Passlogix Inc. this week plans to announce the newest version of its v-GO single sign-on offering, which now has a much smaller memory footprint and is designed to work in any environment, regardless of what mix of platforms and applications are in place.

The v-GO SSO 4.0 solution now supports single sign-on across Windows, Web, Unix, custom and hosted applications. The new release represents a complete revision of the product from the ground up, company officials said, and much of the focus was on improving the management console.

“Its really meant for someone whos an MCSE with about two years of experience,” said Mark Boroditsky, CEO and president of New York-based Passlogix. “Some of our customers have been able to install it completely on their own without our help.”

Passlogix also worked on improving the speed of v-GO SSO 4.0. “The new version is incredibly fast and cuts down on resource consumption by quite a bit,” Boroditsky said.

Some of the speed improvements come from the fact that all of the cryptographic operations are done on the fly.

The software works by monitoring and logging every password-related event on the network and is then able to automate all of a given users log-in activities in future sessions. The system can also handle other password management tasks, including reset, selection and changes.

The new version is also capable of accepting log-on credentials from a variety of sources, including biometrics and smartcards as well as PKI or token-based authentication.

V-GO SSO 4.0 will be available this week.
