Honing in on very specific issues within vertical markets, Tibco Inc. will announce next week four new integration solutions–two developed in-house and two through partners.

Aimed at the utilities, financial services, oil and gas, and high-tech markets, the new integration software is designed to make integration more accessible to mainstream markets and target specific customers.

By developing integration solutions that model a particular industrys data structure and business processes, Tibco is hoping to accomplish both objectives and answer the question of return on investment for customers.

Tibcos Real Time Customer Service for Utilities, for example, has the specific objective of reducing the time it takes a utilities customer service agent to respond to a customer.

Developed jointly with Seibel Systems and Accenture, RTCS integrates billing and other applications or systems–customer relationship management and enterprise resource management, for example–with Seibels customer management system.

Tibco is working on solutions for non-Seibel customers, according to officials.

The Tibco Real Time Trade Management for Financial Services offering focuses on tracking and managing financial trades through the settlement process, with the objective of reducing costs and risks associated with cross-border trades.

Basically, whenever the software detects a failed trade, a message is re-routed to a failed trade workstation, where its addressed and reintroduced back into the workflow.

In conjunction with Tibco, ZettaWorks LLC developed the Operations Advantage for Oil and Gas solution that provides production data and analytics to production engineers in real time.

Historically, a lot of information from wells arrives several days late. The OAOG solution reduces response time to off-production events, according to Tibco officials.

The Product Change Management Net solution developed with Sierra Atlantic Inc. improves the way high-tech manufacturers collaborate to design and manufacture products more efficiently by integrating Sierras PCM solution with other systems and distributing product information over the Internet.

EAI software maker Vitria Technology Corp. announced four similar vertical offerings last week that it refers to as applications, vs. an integration platform.

Vitria Collaborative Applications are scaled-down integration solutions that target the health care, manufacturing, finance and utilities sectors. Additional applications are in the works.

Tibco, on the other hand, remains cautious in defining its solutions as applications. Rather, officials of the company refer to their newest software as a packaged set of integration components, layered with business process management.
