Forthcoming integration software from SeeBeyond Technology Corp., TIBCO Software Inc. and Vitria Technology Inc. give more options to users in vertical industries to connect disparate applications with less expense.
SeeBeyond will announce at its SeeBeyond Horizons user conference in Las Vegas this week vertically aligned, prepackaged integration solutions for makers of consumer goods and health care companies.
The SeeBeyond UCCnet Solution Set for CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) comes with pre-built and pre-configured components, including process models for data synchronization and work list management, as well as security configurations using the AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) protocol.
An Implementation Guide provides a tool kit with documented best practices for planning, organizing and managing a UCCnet integration project. This includes business requirements documentation, technical best practices and templates, project management plans and templates, quality assurance plans, and a best-practices UCCnet integration architecture.
UCCnet, a subsidiary of Uniform Code Council Inc., provides registry and synchronization services that enable retailers and suppliers to exchange data.
SeeBeyonds Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Solution Set for Payers enables rapid deployment of a HIPAA-compliant integration infrastructure within 12 weeks for complete automation of claims and eligibility business processes, including HIPAA transaction support, See- Beyond officials said. It includes tools similar to the CPG solution.
More solutions will follow for the banking, energy, insurance, retail and government industries, in addition to prepackaged offerings for areas such as electronic data interchange, said SeeBeyond officials, in Monrovia, Calif.
Separately, TIBCO and Vitria are readying upgrades to their respective vertical industry integration offerings. TIBCO, of Palo Alto, Calif., is working on a library of hundreds of vertical solutions, some the company will develop and some will be developed by partners, TIBCO officials said.
The library, which will be filled in over the next several years, will focus on high tech, financial, telecommunications, logistics and transportation, energy, health care, pharmaceuticals, retail, manufacturing, government, and other industries.
Meanwhile, Vitria plans to extend its namesake Collaborative Applications for the health care, manufacturing, finance and utilities sectors, said officials of the Sunnyvale, Calif., company.
John Ounjian, senior vice president and CIO at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, in Eagan, deployed Vitrias HIPAA compliance software and is standardizing on Vitrias business-to-business BusinessWare platform to redesign Blue Cross system for clearing claims.
“To bring that [HIPAA] compliance, you could elect to put in your COBOL code, but at the end of the day, that adds no value,” said Ounjian. “For the same amount of money, I am able to spend on Vitria, I am able to bring B2B [capabilities].”
