Kite Networks Inc., an integrated communications provider in Ridgeland, Miss., has officially rolled out a wireless broadband network in Phoenix, giving small and medium-size businesses a new choice for high-speed network access.

Phoenix is the first market to receive Kites high-speed “always on” Internet access, e-mail services and Web hosting service. The point-to-point and point-to-multipoint fixed wireless system is available in three access plans and speeds: Mach 1 (512K bits), Mach 2 (1MB) and Mach 3 (2MB). The system can be usually installed in five to 10 business days, according to the company.

Kite plans to expand the service to the nearby Scottsdale airpark soon and continue deploying in additional cities throughout the year.

The Mach 1 plan for small businesses includes 512K speed, 10 e-mail accounts, 10MB of Web server space and 3MB of e-mail server space for each e-mail account for $110 per month. Mach 2, at $300 per month, provides a speed of 1.0MB, 15 e-mail accounts, 20MB of Web service space and 5MB of e-mail server space for each e-mail account. Mach 3, at $400 per month, provides 2MB speed, 20 e-mail accounts, 30MB of Web Domain Name System space and 10MB of e-mail server space for each account. All packages include free equipment and installation with a 36-month service agreement.
