The HTC Touch Diamond, now available from Verizon Wireless, captures the slick, reflective looks of a modern city skyscraper in a 102mm x 51mm x 11.35mm brushed-metal package with faceted edges. It’s a looker.
There are minimal keys on the face of this smartphone, which is all about its 2.76-inch touch screen with HTC’s intuitive TouchFLO 3D interface. (Though users can also choose the more familiar Windows Mobile home screen instead.)
Through Verizon Wireless, users can surf the built-in Opera browser at HSDPA speeds and reply to e-mails in the Windows Mobile 6.1 Profession platform, which integrates with Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Office applications. The Touch Diamond is, after all, geared toward “busy professionals.”
Visual Voice Mail-for an additional $2.99 a month-lets users scroll past messages instead of listening through them, and additional features include Mobile IM, a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera and a microsSD slot for adding 16 GB of memory to the 4 GB of internal storage.
Verizon Wireless’ VZ Navigator for audible turn-by-turn directions is available for an additional $9.99 a month. The overall price tag is $299.99, after a $70 mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract.
HTC recently also introduced the S743 smartphone as well as the Snap and the HTC Magic, which runs Google’s Android operating system. Three more versions of the Android phone are expected out soon.
