MPC Computers LLC on Monday is rounding out its server family with its entry-level two-way NetFrame 600 system.

The Nampa, Idaho, company since last year has been aggressively expanding beyond its desktop offerings, rolling out laptops, servers and storage systems. According to Alex Smith, manager of MPCs server product development, the 600 will complement its two-way 3610 and four-way 6600. MPC will now focus on enhancing the server line, which also includes a 1U (1.75-inch) server, the 1610, and 2U (3.5-inch) 2610.

The 600 offers up to 3.06GHz Xeon chips from Intel Corp., a 533 front-side bus and Intels 7505 chip set. It also comes with integrated serial ATA RAID capabilities and optional SCSI RAID. And the system offers 8x AGP PRO 50 graphics support, PCI-X I/O and from 256MB to 8GB of memory. The 600 also comes in a rack or pedestal configuration, Smith said.

The server will start shipping Aug. 18. A standard configuration that includes 1.8GHz Xeons, 256MB of memory, an 80GB serial ATA hard drive and an integrated dual channel serial ATA RAID controller is priced at $1,399.
