Newly released software offers a glimpse of the inevitable day when Google integrates its new Google Calendar datebook into Google Earth, Google’s mapping facet.

Shnitzl now has a way for Google Earth-generated images to detail events going on in the area being shown on the map.

The firm has absolutely no connection to Google, Google Earth or Google Calendar. Rather, the event information showing up on Google Earth via its trickery comes from anyone who wants upload the details onto the Shnitzl Web site.

But it’s easy to see replacing the Shnitzl user-generated information for those willing to share what they have uploaded into Google Calendar. Whether Google will take this step remains to be seen. But it would seem to be within the boundaries of how the firm operates.

“For a long time, I’ve been expecting to see a lot more integration between calendar events and location information,” Frank Taylor wrote on the Google Earth Blog, after pointing out the new Shnitzl wrinkle.

“For example, you should be able to have a Google Map inside your Google Calendar and see pushpins for your event locations,” he went on to write.
