Google is rumored to be partnering with satellite cable provider Dish Network, according to a brief post on VentureBeat.

Google’s profile in the television market is rising — through media speculation, if not market success — as Google tests ad serving in California and seeks a national director of TV ad sales.

Dish Network, the nation’s 2nd largest satellite television provider, currently serves about 13 million households. Its main competitor, DirectTV, serves about 15 million. Both services compete with land-based cable companies, the largest of which, Comcast, serves about 23 million subscribers.

Google broached the subject of ad serving with Comcast during talks concerning the re-up of their partnership, which currently sees Google providing search tech for comcast.net through 2007.
