It appears Google’s begun working with Ori Allon, developer of an Internet search-engine-bending technology while studying at the School of Computer Science, University of New South Wales. Google wasn’t immediately commenting.

Allon’s creation, Orion, finds Web pages as does Google’s more famous search engine. But in addition, Orion shows results using keywords or phrases associated with what the users enter.

For example, a search for “American History” at Orion results in references to George Washington, the American Revolutionary War, Declaration of Independence, Boston Tea Party and more, according to a September 2005 university press release.

Google et al. seem a lot dumber in contrast. A visit to Google.com means only finding Web pages containing the sought-after keyword or phrase.

While Google remains mum, Allon has refered comments to a Google spokesperson.
