The Verve had a nice little scoop about some newfangled Motorola Mobility device that no one had heard of but apparently is far enough along that it has its own marketing box.

The Motorola Corvair — sounds like a car — is a tablet-style TV remote control with a 6-inch touchscreen powered by Google’s Android 2.3 operating system:

This device, which is allegedly in testing at cable companies, struck me as having the potential to be a new kind of remote control for Google TV.

Face it, Logitech’s clunky Revue keyboard controller’s are, in the words of MG Siegler, like Fisher Price toys. I tried using both Logitech’s Revue mobile app and Google’s own Google TV apps for Android on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Motorola Droid X.

The apps are awkward and difficult, hardly providing a quality user experience and compounding the already somewhat sophisticated Google TV setup.

And with Motorola possibly headed to Google I would imagine the product interoperability between the Corvair and Google TV will be tight. The two could work together to tailor the Corvair for the Google TV experience.

The device would also certainly make a nice piece of companion hardware to the new Google TV Honeycomb upgrade.

Anyway, head over to The Verge’s picture gallery to peep more photos of the sleek device.
