From Google’s perspective, the newly-proposed telecom duo of AT&T and Bellsouth can’t be good combination.

“Uh oh.” That means there’s an even louder, more influential voice supporting a very biased Internet. It’ll be one where Google and other Internet-based companies must pay broadband providers a fee in order to offer their services to their subscribers.

It’s a good bet Google’s to say and do something in the next few days in order to fight the merger. And it’s also a good bet that Google will bring up whether the duo is good for “net neutrality”, or an Internet where every bit is delivered regardless of where it originated.

The degree to which Google responds over the next few days could help define how the way the new merger goes.
