Indias outsourcing firms are working to improve data protection and to pre-empt protectionist laws, officials of the of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) said this week.

“There could be some legislation on data protection. I dont want to wait for it to happen. I want to be pro-active,” said Kiran Karnik, president of NASSCOM.

The group will hold a cybersecurity summit with the United States in October.
