Microsoft this week agreed to merge its Caller ID for E-mail anti-spam proposal with another of the leading domain authentication schemes, Sender Policy Framework (SPF). The combined specification will be presented to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards body in June. The specification would confirm the senders domain at the message transport (SMTP) level, as proposed in SPF, and in the message body headers, which was a key component of Caller ID.
