The SCO Group, whose Web site was a target of the MyDoom worm last week, is offering a reward to find the culprit.

SCOs site was hit by a DDoS (distributed-denial-of-service) attack related to MyDoom last week. The company announced it was offering a reward of as much as $250,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for creating MyDoom.

SCO has been in the cross hairs on several fronts in the last year due to its intellectual property actions against IBM and the open-source community.

“During the past 10 months, SCO has been the target of several DDoS attacks,” said SCO CEO Darl McBride in a statement. “[MyDoom] is different and much more troubling. The perpetrator of this virus is attacking SCO but hurting many others at the same time. We do not know the origins or reasons for this attack, although we have our suspicions. This is criminal activity, and it must be stopped.”
