Not once, but twice in one week did reporters take Microsoft tidbits and run amok with them.

First was the by-now well-publicized gaffe that led to a number of reports claiming Microsoft was about to deliver a $50 iPod killer. If you read MSN VP Yusuf Mehdis transcript, you will see he said no such thing.

Ditto on this Microsoft security story. If you read the transcript of Security VP Rich Kaplans remarks, you wont see anything about XP Service Pack 2 being delayed until September.

Its still a Q3 deliverable (at least for now). But last week, Microsoft execs said its still looking like late July for RTM.
