The new Titan SiliconServer modular network storage appliance from BlueArc enables customers to scale storage capacity in tandem with application server and enterprise data growth. This will lengthen the life cycle of storage products, officials said.

The Titan, to be unveiled this week, allows a single file system to grow to 256 terabytes and utilizes Virtual Volumes to partition data for users and groups. This allows storage administrators to modify storage allocations based on changing application or capacity needs, BlueArc officials said. Titan offers 5G-bps throughput out of the box and can scale to 20G bps through a singular modular upgrade.
