Storage switching leader Brocade Communications Systems Inc. announced revenues of $151.2 million for the third quarter of 2002, up 12 percent from the prior quarter, and up 30 percent from a year ago, officials said.

The San Jose, Calif., company, which is currently engaged in a patent infringement lawsuit with main rival McData Corp., finished the quarter with $18.3 million income.

“We are extremely pleased with our results for the third fiscal quarter of 2002. In todays business environment, the value proposition for Brocade storage area networks resonates more powerfully than ever,” said Chairman and CEO Greg Reyes.

Brocades main, and newest, product is the SilkWorm 12000, which supports 64 or 128 Fibre Channel ports, depending on the configuration.

The company also entered the low-end market earlier this year, with 8-port switches that support newer 2G-bit/second technology.

Reyes roadmap for the future centers on extracting data from storage fabrics and supplying it, through Brocade switches, to other storage components.
