Its as big as the pocket PC device, but it wont run on the Microsoft Corp. platform of the same name.

Casio Inc. this fall will begin shipping the Cassiopeia Pocket Manager BE-300, a color personal digital assistant with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, 16MB of RAM and 16MB of flash ROM.

While it is the size of a Pocket PC, the BE-300 does not use the Pocket PC platform but rather Casios open-development framework that is based on Microsofts Windows CE 3.0. (Microsoft still licenses the CE operating system separately from the Pocket PC platform.) At $300, the BE-300 is about $200 less than many Pocket PCs on the market.

The device features a Universal Serial Bus/Serial Connect and CompactFlash card slot as well as an optional PC Card unit that can support wireless modems and additional memory.

Several third parties support the Pocket Manager platform, including Audible Inc., BSquare Corp. and PumaTech Inc.
