.Mark the date. Microsoft says Windows XP will be ready to roll on Oct. 25. A six-day delay would make for some creepy headlines.

.A winning hand. Aprisma Technologies scores cheap hotel rates in Las Vegas after some dot-coms skip last weeks NetWorld+Interop.

.Cisco strikes out. Company reports its first quarterly loss since going public 11 years ago. Only Cal Ripken had a longer streak.

.These nuns dont fly, they surf. A group of aging Dutch nuns plan to open an Internet cafe. Make that a latte with evening vespers.

.Expect a surplus. Sources say former Cabletron CEO Craig Benson wants to run for Governor of New Hampshire. Benson furnished Cabletron with used fixtures from Digital Equipment and wood scraps from a lumberyard. Imagine if he had a chance to cut state costs.
