Database managed service provider dbaDIRECT has announced a new version of ONguard, an automated process for managing data infrastructure for enterprises.
The ONguard 2.0 platform enables dbaDIRECT to provide data infrastructure management remotely to customers in a repeatable, standardized manner, company officials said.
“With ONguard 2.0, a customers request will be instantly routed to the best possible worldwide resource dbaDIRECT can provide,” said John Bostick, CEO of dbaDIRECT, in a statement. “ONguard 2.0 will find the right person at the right time based on availability, based on skills, based on severity of the problem and, ultimately, based on what needs to done—to ensure issues are handled in the best possible way.”
Bostick said ONguard 2.0 also now allows clients to choose standard operating procedures from a set of dbaDIRECT standards or define their own SOPs to fit their specific work business rules and work flow. Too often, Bostick said, companies rely on ad hoc data management activities rather than establishing SOPs for the enterprise.
“These client-defined SOPs will be seamlessly integrated into the system in a documented fashion,” he said. “When a certain type of work ticket comes in, the customer-defined SOPs will be engaged and our people will do steps one, two, three, four exactly the same way every time.”
In addition to upgrades in workflow/resource management and embedding customer knowledge and standard operating procedures, ONguard 2.0 features refinements of its primary functions, including message handling and graphical trending data through the recently upgraded clientDIRECT Portal 2.0.
