Oracle Corp. has dumped the demand that it be given the right to say yea or nay on the PeopleSoft Inc. and J.D. Edwards & Co. merger, the company announced on Thursday.

The Redwood Shores, Calif., database company filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission an amended offer to purchase PeopleSoft. The amended offer drops a previous condition requiring Oracles consent for any amendment to the merger between PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards.

At the same time, Oracle reaffirmed its commitment to take over PeopleSoft, of Pleasanton, Calif., after PeopleSofts ongoing merger with J.D. Edwards is complete. Oracle has been pursuing PeopleSoft since June.
