Oracle Corp. and Zend Technologies Inc. Monday announced the beta release of the Zend Core for Oracle technology for integrating the Oracle database with Zends PHP development environment.
The Zend Core for Oracle technology enables developers to use PHP to develop applications in the Oracle environment. The beta version is available as a free download from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) and the Zend Web site. The production version will be available later this year, officials of both companies said.
In addition, Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Oracles OTN has published a series of technical articles on helping users deploy PHP, addressing such issues as security and performance at the PHP Developer Center on the OTN Web site. The site also features technical resources for the PHP developer community, including installation guides for PHP with Oracle Application Server and Oracle Database, an online forum, and Oracle JDeveloper 10g PHP extension.
Meanwhile, Cupertino, Calif.-based Zend is supporting Zend Core for Oracle through its Zend Network, and the technology is compatible with existing Zend products such as Zend Platform and Zend Studio, the company said.
