Sybase Inc. is teaming with BearingPoint Inc. to provide new integration software for customer relationship management and health care industry compliance.

The alliance, announced last week, leverages Sybases infrastructure and integration software and the systems integration experience of BearingPoint, which was previously known as KPMG Consulting Inc.

The first step in the alliance for both companies will be to produce a solution for the implementation of PeopleSoft Inc.s PeopleSoft CRM 8.8 on Sybases Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5 database management system and Sybases integration technology.

BearingPoint will provide its implementation methodology.

Next, the pair will develop integration solutions for users facing health care deadlines the likes of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). HIPAA requires health care professionals to provide secure means of electronically sharing information.

      Sybase, BearingPoint deliver joint offerings

      • Phase 1 Provide methodology for rapid implementation of Sybase technologies and PeopleSoft CRM 8.8
      • Phase 2 Produce integration solutions for HIPAA compliance
      • Phase 3 Evaluate opportunities in growth markets such as China and industries such as telecommunications

Sybase, of Dublin, Calif., and BearingPoint, of McLean, Va., have already co-developed HIPAA compliance software for Ochsner Health Plan of Louisiana.

Using Sybase technology, including its HIPAA Repository, EDI Server and HIPAA Accelerator, along with BearingPoints implementation services, Ochsner, in New Orleans, is able to manage HIPAA compliance around claims, eligibility and enrollment transactions.

The alliance will look to expand that solution for other companies.

Over time, Sybase and BearingPoint will look to jointly develop additional solutions that are horizontally and vertically aligned.

For example, the companies will evaluate opportunities in China, where Sybase is strong, and opportunities in the telecommunications industry, where BearingPoint has a large presence, said officials from both companies.
