ActiveGrid released new versions of its open source based service-oriented application platform Feb. 1.

Version 1.5 of San Francisco-based ActiveGrids Application Builder and LAMP Application Server introduces a new role-based access control framework that allows developers to build “identity-aware” service-oriented applications, the company said.

In addition, the ActiveGrid service-oriented application platform has been optimized for IBMs latest DB2 Express-C database as well as for DB2 overall, the company said.

ActiveGrids Application Builder and LAMP Application Server provide a solution for building and deploying service-oriented applications for enterprise developers on the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Python) application infrastructure.

Peter Yared, chief executive of San Francisco-based ActiveGrid, said Application Builder 1.5 and LAMP Application Server 1.5 enhance application performance through Web service results caching.

The products also feature enhanced support for interactive AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) to make it easy to build and add components such as scrollable tables, hover pop-ups and tabs.
