Sybari Softwares latest version of Antigen provides new virus scanning capabilities and enhanced content filtering features for Microsoft Exchange 2000, 5.5 and 5.6 servers.

Antigen 6.5 is priced at $7.50 to $27.50 per user, and, like other software-based anti-virus products, Antigen must be installed on the Exchange e-mail server. However, where other products scan messages in every mailbox, which can degrade performance, Antigen scans for viruses at the Exchange Information Store before messages get to users mailboxes, using a proprietary Extensible Storage Engine hook to gain access to the messages. Version 6.5 can scan inbound and outbound X.400, Microsoft Mail and cc:Mail messages passing through the Microsoft Exchange Message Transfer Agent.

I easily installed Antigen on an Exchange 2000 server and configured virus scans and content filtering parameters using the Antigen Central Manager console (see screen). Central Manager lived up to its name, enabling me to quickly schedule and run various Antigen jobs.
