Borland Software Corp. last week announced the acquisition of Legadero Software Inc., a provider of IT management and governance solutions for software development and delivery.

Borland, of Cupertino, Calif., did not disclose the financial terms of the deal. However, company officials said Borland plans to use Legaderos technology to expand its ALM (application lifecycle management) products and services by delivering new capabilities for demand management, project portfolio management and resource management, as well as for process and asset management.

Legaderos IT management and governance technology, formerly known as Legadero Tempo, will be rebranded as Borland Tempo, officials said.

Erik Frieberg, Borlands vice president of product management, said the Legadero software will work in conjunction with software and best practices Borland acquired when it bought TeraQuest Metrics Inc. in January. But while TeraQuests offerings provide process knowledge, Legaderos technology will enable process automation, said former Legadero President Greg Rice, who has joined Borland as senior director of product marketing.

“Blending what we do with what Borland does provides tremendous depth into the organization,” Rice said. “Legadero and Borland together can deliver a complete, rich environment.”

Borland is “already in the hands of engineers,” and Legadero can expand Borlands reach to executive management, IT management and project managers, Rice said.
