Burlingame, Calif.—At the EclipseCon 2005 conference here, Eclipse executive director Mike Milinkovich announced that CA has expanded its participation in the Eclipse Foundation by becoming a Strategic Developer.

Rob Levy, Computer Associates International Inc.s senior vice president of development for AllFusion life cycle management solutions, will join the Eclipse board of directors.

In addition, CA will propose and lead a strategic enterprise management tools project that will help advance the goals of Eclipse, CA officials said.

CA joins Borland Software Corp., BEA Systems Inc., Sybase Inc., and Scapa Technologies Ltd. as new Strategic Developer members of Eclipse.

“CA is taking an increasingly active role in the industrys most important open-source initiatives,” said Levy in a statement.

“Our expanded participation in the Eclipse Foundation initiatives at a strategic level will help ensure that the capabilities of the Eclipse platform are fully leveraged to optimize management of todays highly complex enterprise computing environments.”

CA initially joined Eclipse in December 2004 and said it would contribute to the Eclipse TPTP (Test and Performance Tools Platform) Top-Level Project and has in fact been appointed as project lead for the TPTP project.
