SAS Goes ASP
SAS Institute joined the application service provider fold last week, announcing a hosted version of its IntelliVisor business intelligence software for retailers. SAS will operate the software, collect information from Web logs and crunch the data. E-tailers can gain access to reports on their customers activities via the Web. Electronic Data Systems is hosting the service.
iXL Signs Executive
Internet systems integrator iXL has attracted another seasoned veteran to its cause. The Atlanta firm, which has lured a number of executives away from old-guard consultancies in recent months, appointed Janet McAllister to head its business-to-employee unit. McAllister most recently was president and CEO of I-Impact, an analytic software developer.
Points for United
United NewVentures, the e-commerce unit of United Airlines, has struck a deal to acquire Internet direct marketing firm MyPoints.com for $112.5 million in cash. United says the deal will enable it to communicate special offers, upgrades and fares to its customers, as well as to an expanded audience of MyPoints users.
