SOHO users who need to migrate information from their old PC to a new one have an ally in Detto Technologies IntelliMover 3.0 PC migration software released by Memorex Products Inc.

IntelliMover, which will ship this month priced at $49.99, helps users move application settings and files from one PC to another via its proprietary USB cable. IntelliMover works with most versions of Windows.

Although IntelliMover doesnt migrate applications, it can move application settings, files, folders, e-mail, address books and dial-up connection parameters.

I installed IntelliMover on a PC running Windows 2000 Professional and created a profile of the system. Using the setup wizard, I could set IntelliMover to automatically migrate all data or select specific settings and files to be moved.

When I set up the applications on a PC running Windows XP and connected the USB cable, another setup wizard led me through the integration process. IntelliMovers useful file transfer utility let me quickly move files over the USB cable.
