    Mercator Moves on Verticals

Joining the ranks of IBM, Vitria Technology and Tibco Inc., Mercator Software Inc. will announce Thursday the release of its new Starter Pack integration software for vertical markets.

Mercator, of Wilton, Conn., architected its Starter Pack software for health care, financial services and ERP [enterprise resource planning] connectivity to manufacturing, retail and distribution.

However, Mercators Starter Pack solutions differ from the vertically oriented integration applications offered by IBM, Tibco and Vitria, in that Mercators offering is tailored for the partner sales model – systems integrators, OEMs [original equipment manufacturers] and resellers.

Created as a proof of concept in the box, each Starter Pack is designed to help alliance partners accelerate sales in particular verticals by building the steps and timetables for integration directly into the software – which also leads to follow-on integration business, according to Mercator officials.

Mercators health-care oriented HIPPA Transaction & Integration Solution allows SIs and resellers to demonstrate HIPPA transaction verification, integration management and transaction processing.

The companys Real-Time Trade Matching Solution for financial services allows SIs to create a proof of concept for the retail banking industry and features components of Mercators SWIFT customizable templates.

Mercators Starter Pack for ERP, SAP-to-Anything Integration Solution, allows SIs and resellers to integrate SAP to other systems, using Mercators SAP Adapter Pack.

The starter packs come with a built-in evaluation process that includes predefined road maps, product evaluation criteria and time lines to streamline proof-of-concept – and integration – processes.

The starter packs are part of Mercators strategy to bolster license revenues by driving more cash through indirect sales, officials said.
