Microsoft Sets Date for Visual Studio 2010, .NET 4 Release

Microsoft has set a new date for the launch of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4: April 12.

In a blog post from Jan. 13, Rob Caron, a Microsoft developer evangelist, said the software giant plans to deliver Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 on April 12, a few weeks later than originally planned.

In a blog post from December, S. “Soma” Somasegar, senior vice president of Microsoft’s Developer Division, informed developers that Microsoft would be taking a little extra time to hone and test the performance of the new releases.

Microsoft released Beta 2 of its flagship developer tools suite in October of 2009, along with the second beta of the .NET Framework 4. And the company said then that it was on track to deliver final versions of both technologies by March 22, 2010.

Visual Studio 2010 features built-in tools for Windows 7 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010, new drag-and-drop bindings for Silverlight and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), and interoperability with technologies such as the database, ASP.NET model view controller, Unified Modeling Language (UML), Microsoft Expression and multicore.
