Serena Software Inc. on Monday announced enhancements to its change management software line, with support for new platforms, packaged applications, integrated development environments (IDEs), application life cycle products and industry standards.

San Mateo, Calif.-based Serena, whose software automates change to enterprise code and content, unveiled the changes to its ChangeMan product family at its Serena User Conference, which runs this week.

Specifically, Serena announced new versions of Serena ChangeMan DS, Software Change Manager for Distributed Systems, Serena ChangeMan ALM, Application Life Cycle Manager, and Serena ChangeMan WCM, Web Code and Content Manager, to support a new set of development life cycle tools, platforms and applications.

Serenas enterprise change management [ECM] products give users a single point of control for managing change across the enterprise, the company said.

Serena announced certified support for the SAP R/3 environment, as part of the SAP Software Partner program. In addition, Serena added support for Linux for the IBM eServer z/Series and the nonstop servers Hewlett-Packard Co. acquired from Compaq Computer Corp. Serenas products also now support life-cycle tools, such as Mercury Test Director and Microsoft Project. There also is new support for SlickEdit Inc.s Visual SlickEdit and Borland Software Inc.s JBuilder, as well as Macromedia Inc.s Dreamweaver and Microsoft Office.

Serena also announced a new version of ChangeMan ZMF, Application Manager for Mainframe Systems. Serena ChangeMan ZMF 5.3 also includes XML services to facilitate third-party integration with other applications. In addition, the new release features enhanced support for DB2.

Serena ChangeMan ZMF 5.3, ChangeMan DS 5.5, ChangeMan ALM 3.2 and ChangeMan WCM 3.2 will be available this summer.

Tom Stayner, vice president of marketing at Serena, said the enhancements “extend the change management architecture to work seamlessly with additional key enterprise solutions, increasing productivity and application quality throughout the development life cycle.”
