BEA Systems introduced its new enterprise Web 2.0 offerings at the OReilly Emerging Technology Conference in San Diego.

At the event on March 27, Adrian McDermott, BEAs vice president of engineering, introduced three new BEA technologies that take advantage of Web 2.0 technologies and social computing to facilitate more efficient user participation in the workplace.

McDermott announced BEA AquaLogic Ensemble, formerly known by the code name Project Runner. AquaLogic Ensemble is infrastructure software for developers and IT operations to create and manage enterprise mashup applications, regardless of development platform and hosting environment.

The second new product, AquaLogic Pages, formerly known by the code name Project Builder, is designed to empower participants to use enterprise data and create simple Web applications for day-to-day business situations. The product is aimed at improving knowledge worker productivity, McDermott said.

And BEAs third new enterprise Web 2.0 product is AquaLogic Pathways, which was formerly known by the code name Project Graffiti. AquaLogic Pathways is a collaborative information discovery and expert identification tool that combines social bookmarking and tagging with search and activity analytics, BEA officials said. The product is aimed at helping users discover and share information and expertise through the power of social networks.
