BEA Systems Inc. this week announced a deal with Veritas Software Corp. to provide grid-computing solutions aimed squarely at chief rival IBM. BEA and Veritas will co-market and sell Veritas application performance management, provisioning and monitoring software with BEAs WebLogic J2EE-based software infrastructure, said Benjamin Renaud, deputy CTO at BEA.

The challenge with best-of-breed software, like that from BEA and Veritas, is “getting all the breeds to work together,” said Gary Meyer, technology vice president at eForce Inc., a Calif.-based systems integrator. “An enhanced partnership between the two companies will streamline the process of managing and supporting application infrastructure,” he said
