E-Check Usage Soaring Among E-Retailers

The number of e-check transactions for online consumer purchases tripled last year, soaring to 6.9 million transactions from 2002s 2.3 million transactions, according to an industry organization. And those 2002 figures are roughly triple the 750,000 transactions in 2001. A 300 percent annual growth is not something one shakes an ATM card at.

The popularity is moving beyond banks and utilities to music stores, according to a large e-check provider.
