Enterprise resource planning software developer Infor Global Solutions announced Thursday the acquisition of Formation Systems, for an undisclosed sum.
Both companies are privately held.
Formation Systems Inc. develops product lifecycle management software for process manufacturing companies.
It focuses primarily on the food and beverages, home and personal care, and specialty chemical industries.
Infor, based in Atlanta, develops software whose capabilities span everything from CRM (customer relationship management) to SCM (supply chain management)—all geared specifically toward manufacturing and distribution companies in a number of verticals, including: automotive, specialty chemical, consumer packaged goods, discreet manufacturing, distribution, food and beverage, life sciences and demand planning.
While the acquisition of Formation Systems will add to Atlanta-based Infors existing process manufacturing suite of software in several verticals—and become part of the Infor process manufacturing group—the company will remain in operation at its Southborough, Mass., headquarters.
“The acquisition of Formation Systems is consistent with our strategy of assembling high-quality brands and professionals with deep vertical expertise,” said Infor chairman and CEO Jim Schaper, in a statement.
“The addition of PLM to our product portfolio expands Infors capabilities to integrate, streamline, and manage the entire process of product development.”
This is Infors 15th acquisition in three years.
