SAP and Hewlett-Packard have collaborated on speeding up business transactions for messages sized from 7MB to 15MB, with HP rolling out the first server-based XML accelerator designed to speed the mapping of XML messages within the SAP NetWeaver Process Integration technology.

The HP XML Accelerator speeds up the execution of mapping programs within SAP NetWeaver PI, accelerating the processing of XML transactions and the business processes based on them.

The companies claim that this translates into a 700 percent improvement in the processing time needed for a single XML message, and a 400 percent improvement in the volume of messages processed.

HP has been gearing itself more toward the enterprise over the course of 2009, including a SAAS (software as a service) offering in March that integrates security, performance and availability applications and analytics into a complete package.

That program, HP Cloud Assure, linked the HP Application Security Center, HP Performance Center and HP Business Availability Center onto a SAAS platform; integrated, it scans applications, networks, Web applications and middleware layers for security threats, while also working to boost performance.

Despite the global recession, SAP has also been busily rolling out a number of enterprise-oriented programs, including SAP Business Suite 7, generally available to worldwide customers as of May 5.

SAP Business Suite 7 features a modular software library with SAP ERP, SAP Customer Relationship Management, SAP Supplier Relationship Management and SAP Supply Chain Management. The new capabilities allow customers to deploy certain modules without necessarily needing to upgrade the entire platform, which appeals to businesses’ desire to save cash.

The suite also includes 2,800 enterprise services and a built-in solution manager that allows administrators to implement content changes to its applications.
