LABS GALLERY: Firefox 3.6 Is a Small but Worthwhile UpgradeBy Jim Rapoza

Personas

2

Probably the most noticeable new feature in Firefox 3.6 is Personas—browser themes that can be easily added and managed within the browser.

Getpersonas.com

3

At the Web site getpersonas.com, users can browse through a wide variety of Personas available for their Firefox 3.6 browser.

Wear This Persona

4

After finding a Persona I liked, I could deploy it to my Firefox 3.6 install with a single click of the Wear this Persona button.

Managed Personas

5

Once a Persona was installed, I could easily manage it from within the Themes tab in the Add-Ons management window.

Plug-in Tracking

6

Firefox 3.6 makes it possible to track and monitor the plug-ins installed on the browser, and to find plug-ins that need to be updated.

HTML 5

7

One of the new HTML 5 features in Firefox 3.6 lets users choose to view video in Full Screen mode (as long as the video in question allows access to the video context menu).

Full Screen Video

8

Once the Full Screen mode is chosen, users can view full-screen video in Firefox 3.6 without the need of a third-party video application.

Improved Web Standards Support

9

While Version 3.6 of the browser still falls short of a perfect score, Firefox continues its slow improvement in the Web Standards Project’s Acid3 test.
