Marks & Spencer Expanding RFID Trial To 53 Stores

Based on the success of Marks & Spencer’s yearlong RFID trial, the British clothing, food and home products retailer will expand its RFID trial to 53 stores beginning in Spring 2006.

In April 2003, the retailer started tagging apparel including men’s suits, shirts and ties at one of its stores. A year later, Marks & Spencer implemented the suit-tagging program in nine of its almost 400 stores.

As part of the new expansion, the company will also begin using tag in five other departments and will ask suppliers to attach tags prior to shipments.
