Collaboration software maker MatrixOne Inc. and Cimmetry Systems Inc. announced on Monday an OEM agreement that will result in enhanced visualization and collaboration capabilities for design engineers and suppliers.

Cimmetry provides visualization software for the engineering, manufacturing and electronics markets that integrate with document management, workflow, product data management (PDM) and enterprise resource planning systems.

Announced at the CIMdata Product Lifecycle Management 2002 conference this week Orlando, Fla., the partnership will result in MatrixOne providing Cimmetrys Visualization and Collaboration capabilities to its customers, through its eMatrix collaboration platform.

On the flip side, Cimmetry will provide its AutoVue software to MatrixOne, providing its customers with a Web-based means of visually collaborating in the early design phase of engineering processes.

By integrating Cimmetrys thin-client, server-based technology for native 2D and 3D product data with the eMatrix platform, customers will have increased access to data and still retain the benefits of a thin-client platform, allowing for better collaboration along the supply chain, according to officials at Cimmetry, in Cambridge, Mass.

The thin-client architecture allows users to view and markup more than 200 2D and 3D CAD, raster, vector, hybrid and office document formats from a browser, according to officials.
