Business process management software maker Metastorm Inc. announced today the availability of its next-generation platform, e-Work 6.0.

The platform is designed to support the requirements of automating, managing and controlling complex business processes.

Some highlights of e-Work version 6 include enhanced collaborative development tools, process level business activity monitoring and the ability for Web service process integration and management.

The improved development tools maximize the reuse of process components while the process level business activity monitoring increases insight into all elements of the collaboration process.

At the same time, a Web service can be easily consumed within an e-Work process, or on the flip side, an e-Work process can be created as a Web service, officials said.

Process engine optimization for complex scenarios enables users to deliver and manage large, complex processes that involve multiple forms, dynamic roles, distributed databases and multiple servers.

Version 6 is also easier to use. This latest iteration includes new features designed so that process complexity becomes transparent—so the users overall experience is better.

Metastorm, of Columbia, Md., focuses on business process management in a number of vertical industries including manufacturing, business services and government, with a particular focus on customer service, supply chain operations, risk management and internal operations processes.
