With NewsGator online services, NewsGator Technologies has taken its popular RSS aggregator online, giving users a convenient combination of tools with which to check Web logs and news sites.

Launched last month, NewsGator Online Services is a subscription-based service that enables users to access RSS feeds on multiple machines. The service is priced at $5.95 per user per month.

Using the service, I could synchronize my online NewsGator account with the NewsGator 2.0 for Outlook application running on my desktop. The feeds I normally read on my laptop were then accessible anytime via any Web browser.

NewsGator Online Services also lets users read their feeds in e-mail clients that support POP3. I had no problem using this service with Outlook Express. NewsGator Online Services also supports Eudora on Windows, Apple Mail and Entourage.

Those who need information at all times can access NewsGator from any mobile device that supports HTML, such as a PDA or Web-enabled cell phone. (WAP and WML phone users will have to wait until the options are supported in the next release.)

One of the most convenient functions of NewsGator Online Services is its search capability. I could search the Web for content that matched a keyword or URL and could cull information on specific topics from commercial news sites, blogs and Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
