Oak Grove Systems, which makes business process management software, on Tuesday will announce the next iteration of its process engine that spans both Microsoft .Net and Java development environments.
In beta now, Reactor 6.0 provides interoperability between both .Net and Java environments through a Web services interface, officials said. The engine is used to automate and execute business processes and is implemented in Java with EJB (Enterprise JavaBeans), XML and SOAP (simple object access protocol) APIs for better flexibility with existing infrastructures, said officials at Oak Grove Systems Inc., in Calabasas, Calif.
The Reactor upgrade includes a pair of new, namesake tools: Process Studio, a tool for defining human activity flows and automated tasks; and Process Manager, a new user interface tool that lets users access work lists and track and monitor system activity.

Additional enhancements to the 6.0 engine include load balancing, automatic failover and support for a process modeling standard called BPMN—business process modeling notation.
In addition to combining the two development environments, the latest version of Reactor also enables workflow, Web services orchestration and process integration.
Reactor 6.0 will be available at the end of July.
