With the release of its updated PeopleSoft CRM application, announced Aug. 14, Oracle is continuing to show that it will support applications and other products from PeopleSoft and other companies it has acquired during the last several years.

Oracle purchased PeopleSoft in 2004. Since then, the company has tried to eliminate fears that it would stop supporting PeopleSoft and other applications.

One way Oracle has attempted to allay such fears is through its Application Unlimited program, announced in April at the companys annual Oracle Application User Group conference.

With that program, Oracle, based in Redwood Shores, Calif., promised to continue to upgrade its E-Business, PeopleSoft, JDE and Siebel applications beyond 2013, the cutoff date it had initially given when it announced the Fusion road map in 2005. The program, according to Oracle executives, means there will be no forced upgrades for customers.

The new CRM 9 application, which company executives said is designed for financial services, will make use of Oracles Fusion Middleware.

Oracles Fusion Middleware is combined with the PeopleTools 8.48 development stack. It is designed to help integrate with Oracles XML Publisher as well as to offer users expanded Web services that allow integration with third-party applications. Fusion Middleware also promises the ability to plug into standards-based business processes.

Users will also be able to leverage Oracles BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) Process manager and Database 10g and Oracle Application Server 10g Certification.

Oracle has built onto its core CRM suite and the financial services capabilities of previous application releases and is now offering sample processes for Financial Account Creation, Lead and Referral Management and Web Services for Remote Portals, which allow the CRM 9 to be visible within diverse, third-party portal technologies, the company said.

Oracle has streamlined CRM 9 by reducing clicks and pages transfers. Enhancements also include a 360-degree view of customers with a work list and autosave of recent searches; an auto-population of commonly typed text using hot keys; and a bulk service management for order capture, calendaring enhancements, lead import performance improvements and mobile sales support for IMS (Intellisync Mobile Suite) architecture.

PeopleSoft CRM 9 is available now, Oracle executives said.
