SAP Systems Integration AG, the consulting arm of SAP AG, announced Wednesday the acquisition of SPM Technologies Deutschland GmbH.

SAP SI, of Frankfurt, said the acquisition of Berlin-based SPM, which provides IT architecture consulting services, is subject to the approval of the German antitrust commission.

The acquisition will strengthen SAP SIs ability to help customers not only integrate SAP AGs software into their existing IT environments, but will also provide the requisite skills to help customers determine an IT architecture—skills that are becoming increasingly in demand as ERP (enterprise resource planning) software providers like SAP move into the infrastructure provider sector.

SPM played an early role in SAP AGs NetWeaver stack, providing advice on the design and development of the integration platform, officials said.
