SAP AG announced Wednesday the very quiet acquisition of iLytix Systems SA, a move that will bring business intelligence and reporting capabilities to SAPs Business One software for small and midsized companies.

The acquisition of iLytix, a 10-person, privately held company based in Oslo, Norway, actually occurred a couple of weeks ago. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SAP plans to merge iLytixs XL Reporter technology and employee base into its Global Development team, officials said.

SAP, headquartered in Walldorf, Germany, also announced Wednesday that Business One 2004 is generally available. This latest version already has a significant portion of iLytixs BI and reporting capabilities baked into it, which means users will be able to leverage iLytix reporting capabilities using Microsoft Excel.

iLytixs XL Reporter tool enables users to create or modify financial and business reports, as well as to schedule automatic delivery of reports. At the same time, users have the ability to create comparisons and “what if” scenarios.

The iLytix reporting functionality will be available to Business One 2004 users in a service pack in about two to three months. A more detailed road map of iLytixs software will be available after this first release, according to SAP officials.
