Business process management software provider IDS Scheer Inc. on Monday will announce a new tool that is designed to align business processes and enterprise systems with new standards of operational security.

IDS Scheers Aris Process Risk Scout helps users to identify potential vulnerabilities in business and technical systems, and then to re-engineer business processes and IT systems accordingly, said officials at the Berwyn, Pa., company.

The goal is to give users the ability to ensure security and optimize their companys performance—metrics that are becoming increasingly important as companies reach outside their firewalls to interact electronically with trading partners.

Aris Risk Scout leverages IDS Scheers Aris business process management software, as well as its Aris Process Performance Manager, which monitors and analyzes system-wide business processes to detect weaknesses. The software can be used to determine current risk situations and safeguard business processes. It can be extended across the lifecycle of a risk management project—from establishing risk policy to analyzing and reporting on risks.

The way Risk Scout operates is through a series of templates and procedural models that guide users through the process of creating a customized risk management solution. The resulting project plan offers a blueprint for business process optimization.

The software also offers reporting features that help companies to review, optimize and change business processes and security methodology, as well as a Process Risk Portal for communicating policies and processes, officials said.
