In an effort to help application developers at small and mid-sized companies automate their business processes, NetLedger Inc. on Tuesday announced a slew of new tools specifically branded for users of Oracle Corp. applications.
The new tools include smbXML, an XML-based integration technology that helps developers exchange business information with the Oracle Small Business Suite, which is powered by NetLedger.
With NetLedgers smbXML tool, developers can link complementary applications together; thereby streamlining their business processes around one centralized Oracle database.
NetLedger, of San Mateo, Calif., also released additional capabilities, including Single Sign-On technology, Server-to-Server Integration technology and a Web Store Developer Kit. Single Sign-on allows users to move between Web-based applications without the need to enter multiple passwords, while Server-to-Server Integration allows for real-time data exchange between Web-based apps, eliminating the need to periodically upload the information.
The Web Store Developer Kit allows a business to use its existing Web Store or Web site and incorporate the Oracle Small Business Suite to get e-commerce and accounting functionalities.
The tools, developed by NetLedger developed in partnership with Oracle, are embedded in the Oracle Small Business Suite, according to NetLedger officials.
Oracle officials, long beating the drum of integration, assert that small businesses can save time and money by eliminating costly integration problems and sticking with Oracle e-business apps from start to finish. However, with tools like Single Sign-on, Server-to-Server Integration and the Web Store Developer Kit, Oracle – through NetLedger – seems to be taking into account third-party apps that small businesses may have in place.
