BEA Systems Inc. on Monday announced its new platform for delivering enterprise data to mobile devices.

The new MobileAware Interaction Server, BEA WebLogic Edition, extends the BEA WebLogic Portal platform to the mobile space and uses BEAs WebLogic Workshop development environment, an execution platform, and personalization and mobile presentation features.

With the new release, developed in conjunction with Dublin, Ireland-based MobileAware Ltd., BEA is enabling users to extend SOA (service-oriented architecture) within BEA WebLogic Portal 8.1, the company said.

BEA is targeting the telecommunications and enterprise markets with its new platform, which the company calls a central part of BEAs Services Delivery Solution and a piece in the overall BEA Liquid Computing strategy.

“Together, BEA and MobileAware have empowered organizations to exploit the opportunity of mobility quickly, at low cost and at low risk,” Brian Kinane, executive vice president at MobileAware, said in a statement.

“With a time frame as short as one week, enterprises can test the benefits of mobility in reaching out to customers, partners and employees,” Kinane said. “We are now calling on organizations to exploit this breakthrough in cost and productivity and truly innovate by extending their value to the mobile user.”
