As proof it can spot emerging trends a mile away, The Yankee Group recently cited General Motors decision to become an ASP. The analysts “told ya so” was seemingly based on a widely circulated article saying the automaker was planning to capitalize on its computer technology know-how by making a foray into the crowded ASP field.
But John Ahearne, GMs director of communications for IS and services, insists GM has no plan to become an ASP, ISP or anything similar. The story was caused by some kind of misunderstanding, says Ahearne, who promises GM will stick to making vehicles and leave the service provision to its friendly army of Mr. Goodwrenches.
Stay tuned for Yankees next bold prediction: Layoffs at Chrysler.
